Here we are in our glass studio on Maui creating glass art for the past 30 years or so.
Today we are working on a custom piece that was ordered special from out website www.pizzoglassartmaui.com. This will eventually be a 32" tall tower in green with accents of Chinese Red. You can order something special too. Just browse the website and choose your colors. We are very good with making your dreams a reality.
First we need to draw out the design then adding colored glass ice to make the pattern.
Here you can see that I did just that by adding the lines using tools above. Next we will fill in the rest of the colors and also the colored blobs that I add for accents.
The final step is adding all the crushed glass for texture. This has to be done carefully so one doesn't disturb the powder colors underneath.
After all the glass clear chunks are added it is time to fire each panel to around 1700 degrees, then assemble them and add the bottom. and here is the final tower completed.
Good luck with creating one of your own. Remember that glass, when hot, is liquid in a solid state so the glass gods always have their own idea as to what the end product should look like.
